Morning Sketches
Each day, when I’m at home, I sit at the kitchen table and sketch out colour ideas in acrylic pen, watercolours and ink. In the past I’ve relied on fountain pens to get ideas down but lately, with the kitchen filling with flowers from the garden, colour is the only way to convey the objects of my obsessions. With such hots summers nowadays I’ve spend I good part of my morning ritual in the garden sketching dahlias, cotton wool whorls on the mint plant near the kitchen door– which attracts a stunning array of polinators– big bulbs of alliums and flaming geraniums. And if I’m lucky I catch a pollinator with my camera to sketch later.
